Hand-written, bound notebook contains formulas and prescription recipes as prepared by Bowers' Pharmacy, Baltimore, Maryland. Envelope attached inside back cover includes loose papers with hand-written recipes.
Bowers’ Pharmacy was founded by James W. Bowers on the Southwest Corner of Baltimore and Schroeder Streets in 1858. Bowers’ Pharmacy remained on Baltimore Street until 1919. The owner’s son, James W. Bowers Jr. was an 1879 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Law.
